Question #1: What is the source of funding for EMPOWER THE CHILDREN?

Answer: In the U.S.A. individuals contribute directly to EMPOWER THE CHILDREN through various fundraising events. Since ETC is a 501 (3) C nonprofit organization, each American donor is issued a receipt that can be used for tax-deductible purposes. In addition, many corporations will double an employee’s donation to a nonprofit organization through "Corporate Matching Fund" programs -- usually matching dollar for dollar any size contribution. If your company has this program, EMPOWER THE CHILDREN would appreciate being enrolled. Donations from all nations are welcome.

Question # 2: How does EMPOWER THE CHILDREN distribute its resources?

Answer: As stated in the bylaws of EMPOWER THE CHILDREN, 90% of all donations must be used for direct services to the children: the establishment of educational and enrichment programs, daily lunch programs, school sponsorships, clothing and recreational outings.

Question # 3: How does my financial contribution directly help?

Answer: Your donation supports educational and lunch programs in India, Kenya and Mexico. Children pay no school fees and also receive books, school supplies and holiday clothes. Money donated to EMPOWER THE CHILDREN goes a long way. For example, one American dollar in India is equivalent to about 46 rupees. It costs 10 rupees a day to feed a child….only 22 American cents provides a child with a nutritious meal.

Question # 4: Does any ETC board member or volunteer receive a salary?

Answer: No. ETC board members and volunteers do not receive payment for their services. Individuals contribute their time, energy and services free of charge. In addition, volunteers travel to the project sites at their own personal expense and pay their own living costs.

Question # 5: Does EMPOWER THE CHILDREN receive help from any government?

Answer: No.

Answer: You can help EMPOWER THE CHILDREN by volunteering at any of the project sites in Kolkata.

In your own country, you can organize fundraising events. These events can range from a small round-table discussion to a large festival. Any size and any style fundraiser is greatly appreciated.
